Variety

From my first day at Variety, I was treated like a member of the editorial team. I contributed daily content generating viral numbers of page views, interviewed celebrities and artists for Q&As and stories, and had my work published in multiple issues of the magazine. With my drive to learn, the staff granted my requests to sit in on photoshoots and podcasting sessions in order to grow my knowledge of different journalistic mediums.

For Variety's society section, I attended events and worked red carpet. I can field publicists like nobody's business and make on-the-spot decisions about who to talk to and what questions to ask. Plus, I've mastered the art of live-tweeting and Snapchatting at an event.

I’ve been fortunate enough to interview filmmakers, designers and actors like Morgan Freeman, Bryan Singer, Alfie Allen, Celine Dion, Noah Hawley, Aaron Paul, Dakota Johnson, Alan Menken, Rob Legato, Josh Gad, and countless more. In addition, I've interviewed the big wigs, like AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins or Laika president and CEO Travis Knight. These interviews have taken the form of event summaries, descriptive storytelling, Q&As and investigative reporting.

Take a look at some of my work below.

Canadian Filmmaker Rob Stewart Found Dead After Scuba Dive

This story went viral, eventually landing as the #1 featured story in the Facebook trending topics section for the filmmaker Rob Stewart's death.

‘Legion’ Production Design Team Creates Disorienting Dreamscape

I met the production designer Michael Wylie at the red carpet premiere of "Legion" for FX. After hearing about the eccentricities of the show's visual side, I jumped at the chance to learn more. Shout out to his publicist for helping me land the story.

Oscars: VFX Contenders Put on a Show at Academy’s Annual Bake-Off

I pitched this story to our awards editor after spontaneously attending the Academy's visual effects bakeoff. After only a few days at the magazine, I mustered up the courage to call Oscar winning visual effects artist Rob Legato, who helped flesh out my understanding of the industry. We spoke for another piece, coming up in the mag for the Oscar issue.

Check out the story I wrote on Legato's work on "The Jungle Book" here.

‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Premiere Brings Lots of Leather, Loads of Love

Check out my coverage of the "Fifty Shades Darker" premiere, where I interviewed stars and filmmakers, producers and directors, before attending the after-party attended by none other than (!!!) One Direction ex-member Zayn Malik.
